2009 UN Environmental Forum

The 2009 New England YPIC Forum titled Is Green a Mirage? Growing Global Environmental Policy will discuss the impact of global environmental programs on our communities, governments, and international relations. The event is to be held at Hult International Business School on the morning of October 24th. Local experts from an array of perspectives gather to facilitate a discussion with each other and with the community about what our world will look like as we unwind the areas of culture, business, and politics which have led us to close proximity to dangerous possibilities. The forum will touch many of the topics that will be addressed later this year in Copenhagen, with hopes to promote awareness of current issues in the New England community. All are welcome, but space is limited on a first come first serve basis.

We planned this event so that young people new to understanding the global scene have an outlet to meet people with similar interests, and begin to create a base of global perspectives. Is there a topic or perspective that you think would be interesting to discuss at the forum?

To get the ideas flowing, take a look at this article which is meant to be a thought exercise.

Check out this article. It looks as thought Saudi Arabia is worried about decreasing demand for oil, and wants compensation as part of an international climate deal. Enjoy discussing all this at the conference!

Thanks Carl. This is interesting. Reminds me a little bit of Russia in the mid-90s in the level of dependence on oil prices to run the country. We will certainly address this during the forum.
